AC Repair in Bishop Hills

Bishop Hills at a glance

Bishop Hills is a small town in Potter County with 211 people in 2020, up from 193 in 2010, covering about 0.3 square miles.

What that means for your AC

Homes in a small town just outside Amarillo often date from the same period and may be due for replacements around the same time. If yours is old, see AC replacement. Small towns near a big city often share one older water and power supply, and voltage dips during summer storms can be hard on AC compressors and controls. A surge protector at the outdoor unit is a modest safeguard, and a technician can test the capacitor during a spring visit. If your home is one of the original houses in town, ask about the age of the ductwork as well as the equipment.

Open sky

Little shade and open ground mean strong sun on roofs and outdoor units. Attic insulation and ventilation help the AC keep up. Without trees, outdoor units sit in direct sun all day; a light shade structure a few feet above and to the side, with open air all round, can help the unit run cooler on July afternoons.

Part of the metro

Bishop Hills is part of the Amarillo metropolitan area, so technicians from the city can reach it readily. Still, booking a spring check before the first heat wave avoids the busiest weeks; see tune-ups.
