AC Repair in Lake Tanglewood

Lake Tanglewood at a glance

Lake Tanglewood is a village of 686 people (2020) in Randall County. Of its 1.5 square miles, about 27 percent is water.

What that means for your AC

Lakeside homes often have big windows facing the water and the afternoon sun, which loads the AC. Shading and well-sealed ducts help; see ductwork and airflow. Big lake-facing windows let in afternoon sun that a standard system wasn't sized for. Low-e film or exterior shades on those windows reduce the load, and a technician can check whether the rooms facing the water get enough supply air. In winter, the same glass loses heat, so those rooms may also be the first to feel cold when a front comes through.

Lake breezes

Breezes off the water help on some evenings, but cottonwood fluff and debris around the shore can clog outdoor coils in late spring. Moisture near the shore can also rust the base of outdoor units sitting on bare ground, so a raised pad keeps it drier.

A reservoir village

The village sits beside its lake, a reservoir on the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River. Homes built around a lake on the High Plains get both open sky and strong sun, so attic insulation and a properly sized system matter more than usual. A heat pump can also handle mild winter days efficiently.
